Playa del Carmen
One avenue, the sea at the end of every street.
Playa del Carmen grew around Fifth Avenue, a pedestrian street that runs parallel to the sea for miles.
It is the easiest base in the Riviera Maya: the Xcaret, Xplor and Xel-Há parks, the cenotes, the underground rivers and caverns, the Cozumel ferry and the beach, all within an hour. To sleep, anything from all-inclusive resorts to boutique hotels with a handful of rooms.

Fifth Avenue
Miles to walk with no plan
Shops, terraces, galleries and live music along a car-free avenue. It is the destination's meeting point and it works from morning to the small hours.

The beach
White sand two streets away
Playacar, Mamitas, Punta Esmeralda: the sea is always at the end of the street, with beach clubs, cenotes that empty onto the sand and quiet stretches. Snorkelling, diving and sailing trips leave from the pier.

After dark
From the rooftop to the floor
A night in Playa del Carmen starts on a rooftop and ends on a dance floor. It is the most varied nightlife scene in the Riviera Maya.
