Puerto Morelos
A fishing village that stayed the way it was.
Puerto Morelos keeps its square, its leaning lighthouse and a fleet of small boats that goes out to fish every morning.
Facing it, the Reef National Park protects the stretch of the world's second largest reef that runs closest to shore. With fine sand and gentle waves, it is one of the easiest destinations to travel to with children.

The reef
A national park four hundred meters offshore
The reef sits four hundred meters offshore and is visited with guides from the town itself, in small groups and under strict rules. Snorkelling and diving leave from the pier.

Cenotes and jungle
Fresh water and a botanical garden
The Cenotes Route strings together dozens of open, semi-open and cavern cenotes, with zip lines and trails. At the entrance to town, the Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marin Botanical Garden gathers the flora and fauna of the coastal jungle.

The town
The lighthouse that stayed crooked
The old lighthouse, tilted since Hurricane Beulah, stands beside Ventana al Mar beach and is the town's symbol. Around the square there is a bookshop, a craft market and long-standing seafood spots.
